Local Hero Honored by Lions Club

Updated: Jun 30, 2021

Last night Carol Richmond was honored at the Andover Lion's Club 50th Charter Night celebration. Carol Richmond received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award for her community service efforts.

Everyone recognizes Carol as the Andover Central School cafeteria director. She's the smiling face that greets the children of Andover each morning at breakfast and makes sure that each child has a nutritious lunch. This year has presented many challenges for Carol and her staff, but they have gone above and beyond to ensure the children in this community are not only fed, but feel cared for and thought of. Throughout the school year she continued to have a positive attitude and implement creative solutions to unprecedented hurdles.

Carol Richmond's service to the school is certainly worthy of an award, but she was honored with the Melvin Jones Fellowship for some of her perhaps lesser known deeds. Carol herself is not a lion, but she has assisted the lions club on countless service projects over the years alongside her husband Lion Jim Richmond. Some of the service projects Carol has been involved in the Thanksgiving food baskets, Christmas food hampers and Toys for Tots, and the annual community Halloween Party. Carol volunteers her time and expertise for food shopping as well as helping to reach families in need.

On top of all of her good deeds Carol is just overall a nice person. If you see her out and about be sure to offer your congratulations and thanks.
