North Main Street Bridge Reopened

The North Main Street Bridge that closed on Monday following the discovery of a massive hole in the north-bound lane has re-opened with some additional restrictions. The bridge is now a single lane with a 15 ton weight limit. The limit was previously 25 tons.

It only took the Town crew with the assistance of the county 2 1/2 days of closure to be sure that the bridge was fit for use, which is pretty impressive given that it's a whole entire bridge.

The bridge has needed repair/replacement for some time since it was built in 1931. Highway superintendent, Jim Frungillo, has been working on the replacement project with the town for 2 years now. The project has been approved to be replaced in 2023. I'm sure there will be a public hearing closer to the bridge re-build. I can't wait.
