Wednesday's Talent Show at the ACS Auditorium brought out all the local talent both in performers, judges, and attendees. The star studded event began at 6pm with an audience primarily of parents, relatives, and friends of the performers. We can neither confirm nor deny the presence of talent scouts at the event as we did not recognize everyone there, but we also did not ask around. A smattering of pumpkins set the mood as autumnal.
The judges included superintendent Dr. Derek Schuelein, Principal Molly Turner, and Mrs. Teresa O'Connor (social worker). The judges were uniquely qualified as judges for a myriad of reasons that I'm sure I don't need to go into here.
The talent show was in two acts with the first act featuring elementary students and the second act showcasing the high school performers. Before the show and during intermission there was a bake sale of many fine locally baked goods sponsored by the Fine Arts Club. The baked goods were reportedly primarily cupcakes, which are universally known to be the best baked sale item.
The performances were primarily singers with some gymnastics, dancing, drawing, and instrumentals to round out the field. Much to our disappointment there was no flaming baton twirling or magicians, but perhaps they are still training for next year. The show went off with only minor hitches including some technical difficulties with a computer that took several folks to sort out. The enthusiastic crowd supported their favorites with cheers and applause throughout the evening.
While the judges deliberated there was a comedic performance of what is best described as dad jokes which certainly did help pass the time. The winners for elementary were Lily Clemons in 3rd place, Leah Austin in 2nd Place and 1st place was won by Harper Joyce with her "Dynamite" gymnastics routine. In the high school category 3rd place went to Samantha Pitts, 2nd to Emily Schweigart , and 1st place went to Emily Hills for her performance of "Fix You."
Congratulations to all of the winners and performers!
