New Trash Cans on the Block

Things are getting pretty swanky in the village of Andover. Residents may have noticed four new sleek trash cans on Main Street. These trash cans are provided by the Andover Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Andover Historical Preservation Corp, and Andover Caring Cardinals with the intent to replace the existing wooden trash cans that are in various states of disrepair.

Check out that svelte new profile

trash can
One of the old trash cans. They served us well, and now it is time for them to retire.

A member of the chamber stated "The village is doing a trail basis here. The chamber put them out and weighted them down. Hopefully it's an upgrade to the Main Street esthetic."

The model 73290199 Commercial Zone Polytech 42 Gallon waste containers* in the color classic black come with a domed lid which will be handy during windy, rainy and snowy weather to keep the trash safe and sound in the elements. These fine trash receptacles are made from recycled materials that won't rust, chip or dent according to Commercial Zone. Plastic in general doesn't rust, but ok Commercial Zone, pop off Queen.

An Andover resident when asked about their opinion of the new trash cans stated "The model 73290199 is state of the art for commercial zones. Good choice."

Check out that handsome lid. It is definitely a trash can lid.

The former trash receptacles have been a hot button issue for many years. Who is responsible for emptying them? This has changed over the years. It was once the Village crew's responsibility and then that job was passed on to a local contractor. Local business owners have also emptied them on occasion. This trial run the trash removal will be provided by the Village Crew. If the trash becomes an undue burden on the crew then they might be removed, so let's collectively figure out how to act.

What is acceptable to put in them? DO put in any litter you may see on Main Street or anything that might become litter. In the past a couple folks thought it was cool to put their household trash in the Main Street trash cans. It's not acceptable. DON'T be doing that okay? If you think no one noticed you doing it, you're mistaken. We totally noticed. If you struggle with knowing the correct way to dispose of your household trash we would humbly recommend you Google local purveyors of garbage disposal services.

The new trash cans are already in use. Excellent job Andover community! Let's keep using our public trash cans wisely so that they will continue to be available to us.
